Our Family Vlog Journey: The Real Story Behind the Scenes
Hey my loves! So, I saw so many of you asking about our vlogs after I posted that little clip, and honestly, I just knew I had to sit down and spill all the beans. It’s wild to think about how long we’ve been doing this, and how much has changed since we first started hitting record. It feels like just yesterday I was trying to figure out how to even turn the camera on, and now look at us, hahah! It’s been such a journey, and I love that you guys are curious about it bc it means you’re really connecting with what we put out there, and that means the world to me. Like, truly.
How It All Started: From Home Videos to YouTube
Okay, so let’s rewind a little bit. When Tanner and I first started vlogging, it wasn't really a 'thing' we planned to do. Ngl, it was super casual. We just had our phones, and then eventually a little camera, and we were just documenting our lives. Like, literally just home videos. We’d go on a trip, or have a fun weekend, and I’d just film little snippets. I think the idea was just to have these memories for us to look back on, you know? Like a digital scrapbook. I’ve always been super sentimental, and I just loved the idea of capturing all these little moments that fly by way too fast. Especially after Stella was born, everything felt so precious and fleeting. I couldn't imagine not having those early days on camera. Then, bc I was already sharing little bits on Instagram, some of you guys started asking if we had a YouTube channel. And I was like, 'uhhh, not really, but maybe we should?' Hahah. And that’s kinda how it organically grew. It was never this big, strategic plan, it was just us, living our lives, and sharing it with whoever wanted to watch. Which, turns out, is a lot of you, and that still blows my mind every single day :,)
The Ups and Downs of Sharing Our Lives
Now, I’m not gonna lie, vlogging isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. There are definitely days when I’m like, 'ugh, do I really have to edit this today?' Or when life is just so chaotic with three little girls running around, and the last thing I want to do is pick up a camera. Tanner is usually my hype man though, he’s always like, 'babe, just get a few clips, you’ll thank yourself later!' And he’s always right, curse my freakin indecisiveness hahah. But honestly, the 'downs' are usually just my own mental hurdles. The actual act of sharing our lives, for the most part, has been such a blessing. It’s allowed us to connect with so many incredible people (that’s you guys!), and it’s given us this amazing archive of our family’s growth. I mean, watching Stella and Ozzy grow up on camera, and now seeing little Cherry’s first everything… it’s just priceless. It’s like, I can literally go back and relive their first steps, their funny sayings, all the little milestones. That’s the real gold for me. And getting to share those moments with you all, and hear your stories, it just makes me feel like we’re all in this together, navigating the beautiful chaos of family life.
Keeping It Real: Our Philosophy on Vlogging
If you’ve watched our vlogs for any amount of time, you know we try to keep it as real as possible. Like, I’m not here to pretend our house is always spotless or that my kids never have meltdowns. Ngl, sometimes I look at other creators and I’m like, 'how do they do it all??' But then I remember, that’s not our story. Our story is messy, and loud, and sometimes I’m wearing the same sweatpants for three days straight. And that’s okay! I think that’s why so many of you connect with us, bc you see yourselves in our everyday life. I’m not trying to be perfect, I’m just trying to be me, and share our family’s journey authentically. We don’t script anything, we don’t really plan out our 'content' in a super strict way. It’s just… life. We hit record when something fun or interesting is happening, or even when something challenging is happening, and we just let it unfold. Of course, there are some things we keep private, bc at the end of the day, our family’s privacy is super important. But for the most part, what you see is what you get. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I want our girls to look back at these vlogs someday and see their parents being real, being silly, being imperfect, and loving each other fiercely through it all. That’s the legacy I want to leave.
The Best Part: Connecting with YOU
Honestly, the absolute best part about vlogging, besides the memories for us, is connecting with you guys. Like, I still get emotional thinking about how many of you have been with us since the beginning, watching Stella grow from a tiny baby to a big sister, and now Ozzy and Cherry too. Your comments, your messages, your support… it truly fuels me. It makes all the late-night editing sessions worth it. When I read your messages saying that our vlogs made you smile, or helped you feel less alone, or even just gave you a little escape from your own day, that’s everything to me. It’s why we do it. It’s not about views or numbers, it’s about building this incredible community. I feel like we’re all friends, just hanging out, sharing our lives. And that’s a pretty special thing, isn’t it? I love that we get to share our family with you, and that you share a piece of your lives back with us. It’s a beautiful exchange. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for watching, for commenting, for being a part of our crazy, beautiful journey. It means sm to me and Tanner and the girls. We love you guys! :,)
